Making work, experimenting & getting ready for NYOS17

So, lots to look forward to right now. I’m working my socks off towards North Yorkshire Open Studios from the 2nd June. So many late nights I feel like a student again albeit a few decades too late! Just putting the finishing touches to my main pictures then have allowed myself a few weeks to “play” to see what I can come up with. Trying not to stress about it too much but want to get it right. The house is still getting a lick of paint. Not bad seeing as only a few months ago we had a digger in the kitchen. The place is unrecognisable since the summer of living in a caravan and setting up kitchen in the shed!

I have been focusing so much on Open Studios it is nearly time to get back to reality. Lots of classes to plan for both Lund Studios and Ebberston Studios. Some really exciting times ahead. Lund Studios are helping me to fulfil my dream of offering a year long class, allowing students to pick up skills on new materials and processes and head towards an exhibition of their own at the end of the year. Check out my workshops section of the website to see what is going on. Lund Studios have just had a relaunch and the place is looking stunning! Such a nice environment to work in. A beautiful view of the White Horse too!

Then there is the planning for my artist in residence for 2 weeks in the summer. Come and see me at Burton Agnes Hall summer house. I’m aiming to take all my materials and have a right old play around. You can see me working or just join me for a cuppa!

I have work in the Summer Exhibition at Kunsthuis Gallery in the Dutch House at Crayke in June. There are more than 100 artists taking part so well worth a visit. Not to mention their lovely gardens and café.

Well, that’s about it. Lots of other exciting opportunities coming my way. I’m applying for a number of exhibitions and have my fingers crossed they can find me a venue at Staithes Festival of Arts and Heritage. I had a lovely time last year and hope I can find a place this year.

Just get in touch or visit if you need to know more. I’ll be in touch in June to keep you updated. Don’t forget to join my Facebook and Instagram pages so you can see how it’s all going!
